Every day ItalyFare records the cheapest available fare for each transport mode (train, bus, ferry, private transfer) on 80+ Italian city-to-city routes, sourced from Trenitalia, Italo, FlixBus, Itabus and other operators. The Italy Fare Index is the average of those cheapest fares across a stable basket of routes (each with at least 30 days of history), normalized to 100 on May 2026. Promotional outliers below €3 are excluded. Data spans 2026-05-15 to 2026-09-12.
